Eberron: Unsung Heroes
Kerra Solo 2
Lucky at cards, lousy at love. The saying proves true as Kerra manages to make quite a bit of money at a table of Progenitor. Her opponents were shrewd and skilled, but with a stroke of luck, even managing a hand of 13 to take the stakes, she does quite well with herself. Her idle advances on the lovely lhazaaran waitress don’t go as well, as she is snubbed in favor of a half-elven nobleman. The night reaches a crescendo when the same nobleman offers Kerra a bet she can’t refuse. The terms are simple, fourty platinum Dragons against a night sharing his bed. While some may be flattered by such a price, surely no prostitute could ever ask nearly as much, it truly was a gamble for the cross-wired Kerra. The hand is simple, and though the man shoots for a 13, he falls short and Kerra once more takes the stake. Kerra could feel that was the best the night would offer, and the spirit of gambling left her.
Though she walks out a winner, she is still disheartened. There were two games being played, one for pay and one for pleasure, and she would have to be satisified in losing one and winning the other. After-all, pleasure could readily be bought, and a night in Dragoneyes district proves it.
